Public Health Disasters

A public health disaster may be a public health issue with calamitous or devastating social consequenses or a currently latent, “silent”, or low prevalence public health issue with the potential to acquire pandemic capacities.


The World Health Organization publishes the Weekly Epidemiological Record (WER)
in order to promote the rapid and accurate dissemination of epidemiological information on cases and outbreaks of diseases.
